The FA Cup 2019/2020 season has finally ended… One trophy, 123 teams played in the main competition, 156 matches played, 429 goals scored with the final being the London derby. This all came to an end when Arsenal lifted The Emirates FA Cup trophy tonight.
The match took place at Wembley with the line up for the blues as follows: Caballero, James, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Rudiger, Alonso, Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount, Giroud & Pulisic; and the gunners: Martinez, Tierney, Holding, Luiz, Bellerin, Ceballos, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Lacazette, Aubameyang & Pepe. The blues went into the match as the favorites to win because of Arsenal’s current form but the gunners remained the most successful club in the FA Cup tournament with 14 titles.
The match kicked off at 5:30 pm UK time with the final titled #HeadsUpFACupFinal in awareness of mental health issues. The first goal attempt of the game came from Aubameyang at the 3rd minute whose header goes wide with Mount of Chelsea hitting a long-range and forcing Martinez into a save a minute later. The first goal of the game came in the 5th minute when Christian Pulisic shot past Martinez into the lower-left corner after a nice backheel assist from Giroud.
Kovacic is given a yellow card soon after (14′) for roughing his opponent. The gunners take control of the match soon after with two successive shots from Maitland-Niles whose bad first touch fails to benefit them at first with the second shot being ruled offside after VAR involvement. Arsenal soon equalized at the 28th minute when Aubameyang scored a penalty caused by Azpilicueta.
Giroud and Azpilicueta are injured soon after but Azpilicueta is taken off to receive medical treatment and replaced by Christensen. Arsenal continued to pressure the blues and Mount was given a a yellow card in the 45th minute after pushing Tierney. The second half continued with the gunners still having the most ball possession but after injuries to Tierney and Pulisic with the later taken off and replaced with Pedro, the deadlock was broken in the 67th minute after a shot from Aubameyang who dribbled past his opponents with an assist from Pepe.
Kovacic was then sent off soon after (73′) for his second bookable offence and Tierney was given a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct, Rudiger followed suit with a yellow card too (75′). Rudiger was soon substituted with Hudson Odoi (78′) and Lacazette with Nketiah (82′). Several near misses and shots blocked on both sides with the final 15 minutes of the game full of excitement and substitutions but Chelsea finished the game with 10 men. Arsenal was the clear winner and Aubameyang the man of the moment
Congratulations to Arsenal, the Emirates FA Cup 2019/20 winner with a record-breaking 14 titles. They face Liverpool soon for the community shield but tonight London is red... Congrats once again!
